This page is a service to out-of-town visitors to the website. It shows the approximate location of lots that have a Realtor’s sign or ‘For sale’ sign on them. The way the information is ordered is as follows:

 

Most of the locations are on the West-East street, starting at the most Southerly and working North (Garden, Someruelos, White, San Fernando, Ladies). The location of the lots for sale is shown by postal or street address block working from West to East (Marine to Estrada is the 700 block, Estrada to Amelia is the 800 block, Amelia to Commandant is the 900 block, Commandant to New is the 1000 block, New to Towngate is the 1100 block, and Towngate to 14th St. is the 1200 block.

 

For the few South-North street locations, they start at the most Westerly (Marine) and work East (Estrada, Commandant, New, Towngate)

 

Please don’t get confused when you see legal description of the lot at your realtor’s office or at the Property Appraiser’s website. The legal description will be given by Block # and Lot # as shown in the Old Town Plat. What we are doing here is to use street addresses as locators.

You may find it helpful to visit the Nassau County Property Appraiser’s webpage at www.nassauflpa.com. This site allows you to look up assessed property values, and review prior sales. You can search the records a number of ways, but perhaps the most convenient way to compare data on this page is to search by MAP. You can then pan N,S,E,W to look at neighboring properties and see their valuations. You can either zoom in and find Old Town, or for a jump-start, you can elect to Search By Parcel Number, and then call for a map. The Parcel Number for the Plaza is 00-00-31-1580-000P-0000

 

A couple of words of caution. First, please note the property appraiser’s own cautions as regards accuracy. Second, recognize that the property assessor’s records are not updated in real time. In fact there may be months of delay between a real estate transaction occurring, and the transaction appearing as an up-dated record for the property concerned. The delays are incurred in part by non-timely filing of transactions with the County Clerk’s office, then by inevitable delays in processing at that office, and then by further inevitable delays in transferring the data to the Property Appraiser’s office, and finally a delay while the record is updated. This is not to be critical of the Property Appraiser’s office (their website is extremely useful); but it is to require you to validate the data independently before making a decision.
